Camera movement and editing blogs
Camera movement and editing:
Pan movement:
1) Pick three aspects of camera movement in the Minority Report clip. Identify the type of camera movement and write about why the director chose to use that camera movement in the scene and what effect it has on the audience.
This shows the pan movement to the horizontal right on 0-14. This is when they are experiencing data and they were looking and info. One said send it to me and the camera horizontally rotated while it was in the same room. This intrigued the audience/consumers to know and get the full information.
Zoom:
This shows the zoom movement on 0-27. The zoom shows the audience what is on the newspaper. It gives them a better view on what the man is reading. The image on the newspaper was something that the man was looking for and satisfied with.
Handheld:
This shows the Handheld movement on 2-25. This shows urgency in this scene and shaking. This highlights tension in the scene. The man climbs the ladder, while the other ones follow him the pressure builds up by the camera shaking. This makes the audience enthusiastic about seeing what's going to happen next.
2) Pick two aspects of editing in the Minority Report clip and write about what effect it has on the audience.
Straight cut:
In the Minority Report 2-58 it shows a straight cut. The man escaping the other humans in the costumes tries to jump. He jumps and there is a slight cut taking of them and the floor. This also highlights the buildup of tension of the thought of them falling on the ground. Makes the consumers want to see more.
Match cut:
In the Chase scene Minority Report 4-01 it shows a match cut. The man gets smashed onto the ceiling by the other human. Then the camera shows a peaceful family trying to eat food and the table shakes because of the strong commotion that was happening beneath them. This has an effect on the audience and tells them how loud and forceful they are below.
3) Finally, revise last week's work on camerawork by picking out two shots or camera angles in the clip that communicate meaning to the audience.
Low angle:
In this Scene it shows us a low angle. The director chooses this to show this particular show to make them stand out and make them look big and powerful. Which is happening is a bunch of commotion build up that reflects on the audience strongfully.
Medium Close up:
This shows the medium close up (MCU) shot at 4-26. It typically frames the subject from just above the head to about midway down the torso. Now here we can see this man's facial features and what he is particularly this shows us that this is indeed a medium close up (MCU) shot.
